Strategic Planning

Overview

Every organization has a plan for the future, but the quality of the plan and commitment by key personnel to that plan varies.  Market forces can turn on a dime, and by the time a plan is developed, it may already be outdated.  A good strategic plan allows today’s decisions to be made with tomorrow in mind.  An inside-out approach is appropriate when the marketplace is relatively stable, and an outside-in approach is appropriate when the industry is experiencing fundamental change.

Process

CMA begins with an Organizational Assessment to gather data for planning.  For the inside-out approach, we conduct strategic planning sessions with the organization, using their current data about the marketplace to develop a strategic plan.  For the outside-in approach, first we help internal groups expand their knowledge and perspective about the industry.  Then we use that data to develop a strategic plan.  CMA has multiple strategic planning models and processes to help entrepreneurial, family-owned, and not-for-profit organizations chart their futures.
