Selection System Development

  • In selecting people, must define and have clarity about what leads to success. Particularly true where different managers are involved in hiring – are they looking for the same qualities?
  • Selection is typically comprised of discreet activities… resume review, multiple interviews, test administration, reference checks, etc.
  • To gain greater insight into a candidate, need to integrate data across discreet activities.


CMA Approach

  • Assist in defining competencies for success based on job analysis.
  • Assist in defining steps in selection system process and their appropriate sequence.
  • For each step, develop instruments and/or methods for collecting, compiling and
    evaluating data.
  • Train internal people in use of system.
  • If requested, validate system effectiveness by demonstrating relationship between predicted and actual job performance.
