1. Logging on at the CMA website / Getting Started

You will need your assessment email to get started.  The title of that email will be in the format “Organization Name – Your Last Name – Online Questionnaires.” If you did not receive it, contact CMA. Your assessment email contains your username/password to login at the CMA website as well as any additional usernames/passwords you might need for other questionnaires.  Most assessment questionnaires are hosted at publishers’ websites, so the CMA site will act as your home base where you can access them all.

Once you log in at cmaconsult.com with your primary username/password, you’ll be asked to fill out an Acknowledgment Form.  This is what allows us to report back on the findings.  After you fill it out and click Agree, you’ll come to a list of your pending questionnaires.  Each one listed is a link that will open a new window or tab for you to complete that questionnaire.  Complete each one individually, and whenever you finish one, just move on to another one.

Feel free to take breaks between the questionnaires or break them into more than one sitting.  If you need to pause part of the way through, just make a note of what you’ve completed, and X out of the cmaconsult.com window.  When you are ready to resume, log back on just as you did the first time.

Common Problem  Possible Solution
Username/password not working
  1. Double-check both username and password for any similar-looking characters such as L’s and 1’s, o’s and 0’s
  2. Check that CapsLock is turned off
  3. Check that you have the right number of characters in the password.  Sometimes if you copy-paste a word, it can add an extra space at the end.
  4. If none of the above work, contact CMA to have your password reset

3.California Psychological Inventory / Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

Printable PDF instructions for navigating SkillsOne’s website available here (California Psychological Inventory).  If taking the Myers-Briggs, the instructions are the same as for the CPI, but your login will be different – it is listed in your assessment email under Questionnaire Descriptions.

Common Problem  Possible Solution
I don’t have a login/password/User ID
  1. Your login and password are listed under “Questionnaire Descriptions” in your assessment email.
  2. Leave User ID blank if logging on for the first time.  The User ID field is there is in case you need to leave the questionnaire to finish later. If you get part of the way through and select the “Save and Finish Later” option, the site will generate a unique User ID. Write this number down. You’ll need it for your return login in order to pick up right where you left off.
I am unsure how to answer some of the questions in the personal information section
  1. Answer as best you can, but the only required responses in the personal information section are your name and your gender. Most of the identifying information section is optional and can be skipped.  For the main true/false section of the CPI, you can leave up to 20 items blank.  For the Myers-Briggs, you can leave up to 5 items blank.

 

4. Leadership Effectiveness Analysis / Sales Performance Assessment

Username/password not working

I am unsure how to answer some of the questions in the personal information section
  1. As long as your name is entered and spelled correctly, most of the identifying questions are optional, so feel free to skip on to the questionnaire. You cannot, however, leave any items blank in the multiple choice section.
I got to the end of the questionnaire, but I am not able to submit my answers
  1. Double-check if any items were left blank.
  2. Recall from the directions that every item must have two answers, not just one.

 

5. Background Questionnaire / Biographical Questionnaire

Webforms hosted at CMA.  You do not need an additional username and password.

Common Problem  Possible Solution
After I answered everything and hit “Submit,” the window closed, and the form is blank if I reopen it.
  1. As long as you did not get an error message, the window closing means it went through. If you would like a confirmation, reply to the email containing your questionnaire logins or call CMA.
  2. You may find it helpful to type your answers in a separate window and copy-paste them into the webform when you are ready to submit your answers.
I have a resume.  Do I still need to complete the Biographical Questionnaire?
  1. No, a resume or CV is fine instead of the Biographical Questionnaire.
I submitted a resume to the organization who requested the assessment.  Do I need to complete the Biographical?
  1. If the Biographical Questionnaire was included in your assessment email, go ahead and send us a copy of your resume, as we may not have gotten a copy from the requesting organization.

 

6. Thurstone Test of Mental Alertness

Common Problem  Possible Solution
My login has expired or my username/password doesn’t work
  1. Thurstone logins and passwords expire 60 days after they are set up.  If you have an expired password, reply to your assessment email to request a new one.
I reached an OK button in the instructions that doesn’t seem to do anything.
  1. After you press OK, there should be a Next arrow at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen.
I accidentally pressed the Submit button during the timed section when I meant to press Next.
